How to Make Buras (Indonesian Traditional Food)




Buras or Burasa (Bugineese) is a traditional food from Sulawesi especially Makassar. In Makassar there is two suku those are Bugineese and Makassarnese. But now, I will explain about how to make Buras Makassar. But Actually we can say that Buras and Burasa is same.  Only the pronounciation and the writing differentiate it. 

Before we make the Buras, we have to prepare the ingredients. Those are 1 liter of good quality rice, 3 bay leaves (washed), 3/4 liter of coconut milk, salt adequately, Banana leaves for wrap up the Buras, adequately.

And then, steam the rice that we wash before. Steam it until completely clean and its half cooked. After that, take it and put it into basin. Then, pour the coconut milk, add the salt, and bay leaves to the half cooked rice. After that, mix it nicely until the coconut milk seep to the half rice cooked rice.

Next, resteam it until cook completely and soft for 15-20 minutes. Then raise it. After that take the Buras rice for covered with banana lAnnyeong d then tie it (use string of raffia) 3-4 knots. Do this untill the end of process or untill all the Buras rice covered with all banana leaves. The size for 1 Buras is rectangle form, we can tie 3 or 4 wrap of Buras together.

Then, resteam the Buras again for 40 minutes. After that, raise it and put it into a place and....
Ready to reserved!
